WPC Timber Tubes — Hollow Wood Plastic Profiles

The linear element that makes a slatted ceiling or screen affordable: no joinery, no warping, no painting, and a section that stays straight over 5.8 metres.

WPC Timber Tubes overview

WPC timber tubes are hollow extruded profiles that read as timber battens. Sections run from a slim 25 × 25 mm square to a 150 × 60 mm rectangular beam, and lengths up to 5,800 mm without a visible joint.

They are used three ways. As a slatted ceiling they create rhythm and hide services above. As a screen they divide space without blocking light. As a column casing they square off an awkward structural column in minutes rather than building a plastered box.

Because the section is hollow it is light and stiff, and it can carry concealed wiring or LED strip inside the profile. That last point is the reason lighting designers specify tubes: the light source disappears into the architecture rather than sitting on top of it.

Please note: Order end caps and matching corner pieces with the tubes. Uncapped tube ends are the most common complaint on handover.

Where it is used

  • Slatted and louvre ceilings
  • Room dividers and decorative screens
  • Column casings and bulkhead framing
  • Concealed LED cove and linear lighting details

How it is installed

  1. Set out the slat spacing from the room centre so both end gaps match.
  2. Fix end brackets or a perimeter frame, then clip or screw the tubes at the recommended centres.
  3. For long spans, support at 600 mm centres to prevent sag, particularly for slim sections.
  4. Route concealed LED strip inside the hollow section and blank the ends with the matching cap.

WPC Timber Tubes — buyer questions

How do I bend a WPC tube?

Cold bending works to a large radius, roughly 20 times the section depth. For tighter curves we supply heat-formed profiles made to your radius. Bending on site with a heat gun will distort the surface finish.

What spacing should I use for a slatted ceiling?

Typically 60–100 mm between tubes for a ceiling where services sit above, and 30–50 mm where the ceiling is closed and the slats are purely decorative. Tighter spacing reads as a solid plane from below.

Can tubes be used outdoors?

Yes, in the capped co-extruded range. Standard tubes are for interior and soffit use. Confirm the finish — an exterior application needs the capped skin to avoid surface greying.
