WPC Exterior Wall Cladding — Co-Extruded Facade Panels

The capped skin is what makes it an exterior product: no annual staining, no greying, no exposed core end grain — a facade that looks the same in year five.

WPC exterior wall cladding on a building facade

WPC Exterior Cladding overview

Standard WPC will weather outdoors. The co-extruded range adds a dense outer skin around the composite core, bonded during extrusion so it cannot delaminate. That skin carries the UV pigment and the texture, and it is what turns a decking material into a credible facade product.

Exterior cladding is a ventilated rainscreen system, not an adhesive-bonded wall finish. Panels are fixed to vertical battens with a drained and ventilated cavity behind, so any water that passes the cladding drains out and the substrate dries. Specify it that way or the wall will fail regardless of panel quality.

Widths run from 156 mm to 219 mm face. Narrower profiles suit tight modules and soffits; wider profiles cost less per square metre in clamps and time on large elevations. Concealed clips match the panel finish so the fixing is invisible from the ground.

Please note: Exterior cladding performance depends on the cavity and the flashing, not just the panel. Ask for the fixing detail drawing before ordering.

Where it is used

  • Ventilated facade cladding on residential and commercial buildings
  • Soffits, canopy linings and entrance surrounds
  • Balcony privacy screens and feature fins
  • Pool-area and coastal elevations

How it is installed

  1. Fix vertical battens at 400–600 mm centres, leaving a drained and ventilated 20 mm cavity behind the cladding.
  2. Install a breather membrane over the substrate and flash all openings before cladding begins.
  3. Clip panels to the battens starting from a set-out line; maintain a 5 mm gap per panel end for thermal movement.
  4. Finish with starter trims, corner profiles and end caps so no core section is left exposed.

WPC Exterior Cladding — buyer questions

Is co-extruded WPC really maintenance free?

Closer to it than uncapped WPC. The capped skin does not need staining and resists greying. It still needs cleaning — pollen, pollution and salt spray should be washed off once or twice a year to keep the colour even.

What happens if the skin is damaged on site?

A deep scratch that reaches the core cannot be polished out, because the core is a lighter colour. Order 3–5% extra panels for a facade so a damaged panel can simply be replaced.

Can it be installed over an existing rendered wall?

Yes, on battens with a ventilated cavity. It should not be bonded flat to masonry. The cavity is what keeps the substrate dry and is the difference between a cladding that lasts and one that traps moisture.
